Shropshire MP Daniel Kawczynski urged his constituents to 'buy local' when he visited goose producer William Brisbourne at the family's farm in Nesscliffe.
The MP spent about 90 minutes seeing how the Birsbourne's rear 1600 geese and other poultry for Christmas, and how this fits in with their own farming activities.
"Daniel Kawczynski is a great supporter of food being processed and sold locally, reducing the food miles," said William.
The MP, who at 6ft 8" is reputed to be the tallest MP to sit in Parliament, has an insight into the working of agriculture from his two years as Parliamentary Private Secretary to former Farm Minister Jim Paice
